Florissant Traffic Court Records

Florissant traffic court records are maintained by the Florissant Municipal Court for city ordinance violations and by the St. Louis County Circuit Court in the 21st Judicial Circuit for state law charges. Florissant's municipal court is strict about courtroom rules and in-person attendance -- all sessions are held in person, and the court enforces a formal dress code. This page covers how to find records, pay your ticket, and what to expect if you have to appear.

Entry to the courthouse requires passing through a metal detector and submitting to a security search. Plan extra time before your hearing to get through security. Do not bring prohibited items -- it will slow you down and may cause you to miss your case being called.

Dress Code -- Strictly Enforced

Florissant Municipal Court enforces a formal dress code for all courtroom appearances. The following items are not allowed in the courtroom:

  • Shorts
  • Halter tops or spaghetti straps
  • Tank tops
  • Mini-skirts
  • Pajama pants
  • Crop tops or open mid-drift clothing
  • Dirty clothes or slippers
  • Barefoot appearance

If you show up dressed in violation of the dress code, you may be turned away and required to return at another time. That could mean missing your scheduled hearing and triggering a failure to appear -- with all the consequences that come with it. Dress as you would for a formal job interview. When in doubt, go more formal, not less. The court takes this rule seriously.

eFiling Requirements

As of November 1, 2019, eFiling is required for all cases filed in Florissant Municipal Court on or after that date. Attorneys and parties submitting new filings must use the electronic filing system. If you are self-represented and need help with eFiling, contact the court for guidance or use the Missouri self-help resource at selfrepresent.mo.gov for step-by-step instructions.

The eFiling requirement applies to new case filings -- it does not change the requirement to appear in person for your scheduled court sessions. You still have to show up in person. eFiling just affects how documents are submitted to the court before and after hearings.

Paying Your Florissant Traffic Ticket Online

Florissant offers 24/7 online payment through the iPayCourt portal at ipaycourt.com/florissant. You can search by citation number or case number. Paying online means pleading guilty -- points will be assessed on your Missouri driving record. If you want to contest the ticket, do not pay. Appear at a scheduled court session instead.

Bond posting requires a valid photo ID and must be paid in cash or money order -- no personal checks for bond. Keep that in mind if you need to post bond on an in-custody matter. The court also has information on its FAQ page about bond procedures and what to expect after posting bond.

Court FAQs and Procedures

Florissant Municipal Court has a detailed FAQ page at florissantmo.com -- Municipal Court FAQs. It covers topics like what to bring to court, how to request a continuance, how bonds work, and what to do if you received a notice of a warrant. Review it before your court date -- it answers most common questions and can save you a phone call.

If you have questions the FAQ does not cover, contact the court through the main city website or visit in person during business hours. Given the in-person requirement and strict dress code, it is better to get your questions answered before you show up on court day rather than arriving unprepared.

St. Louis County Circuit Court -- 21st Judicial Circuit

State traffic charges in Florissant go through the St. Louis County Circuit Court, part of the 21st Judicial Circuit. These are charges under Missouri Revised Statutes -- DWI, reckless driving, state speeding violations, and similar matters. Search those records for free on CaseNet at www.courts.mo.gov/casenet. Enter the last name in all caps, comma, first name -- THOMPSON, AARON for example. Filter by St. Louis County. CaseNet holds over 45 million records statewide and is updated within a few business days of filing. Call (888) 541-4894 for help.

Note that Florissant is in St. Louis County -- not in St. Louis City. The 21st Judicial Circuit covers St. Louis County. The 22nd Judicial Circuit covers St. Louis City. If you are looking for a Florissant case, filter by St. Louis County (21st Circuit), not St. Louis City (22nd Circuit).

Points and License Suspension

Missouri's Department of Revenue assigns points to your driving record for traffic convictions. Florissant convictions count toward your statewide point total. Key thresholds:

  • 4 points in 12 months -- advisory letter from the DOR
  • 8 or more points in 18 months -- license suspension
  • 12 or more points in 12 months -- 1-year revocation

Order your driving record at dor.mo.gov/driver-license/resources/records.html for $2.82. DOR phone: (573) 526-2407. Full FAQ at dor.mo.gov/faq/driver-license/tickets-points.html.

State Fine Collection Center

For non-contested state traffic fines from the 21st Judicial Circuit (St. Louis County), pay through the Missouri Fine Collection Center. Online payment is at courts.mo.gov/page.jsp?id=136013. Phone: (573) 522-8504. Mail: Fine Collection Center, P.O. Box 236, Jefferson City, MO 65102. Do not send circuit court payments to Florissant Municipal Court -- they go to separate systems.

Copies of court documents cost $0.25 per page and $1.50 for certified copies from either the Municipal Court or the St. Louis County Circuit Clerk.

Failure to Appear

Missing a Florissant court date results in a bench warrant. Since all sessions are in-person and the dress code is enforced, arriving dressed improperly can effectively cause you to miss your hearing -- which the court may treat as a failure to appear. The Missouri DOR can suspend your license through the Non-Resident Violator Compact until you resolve the underlying case. A $20 reinstatement fee applies after you clear everything up.

To address a missed hearing, contact the Florissant Municipal Court through the city website. For circuit court failures, contact the St. Louis County Circuit Clerk. Resolve the case, pay any fines, then pay the DOR reinstatement fee. Full details at dor.mo.gov/faq/driver-license/fact-nrvc.html. Do not drive on a suspended license.

Public Records Access Under the Sunshine Law

Florissant traffic court records are public under Missouri's Sunshine Law, Chapter 610 of the Missouri Revised Statutes. The Missouri statutes at revisor.mo.gov include Chapter 610 (Sunshine Law), Chapter 304 (traffic regulations), Chapter 302 (driver license law), and Chapter 479 (municipal courts).
